Look it's a TV Special. It's practically the prologue for the upcoming Fate Strange Fake Anime Series. Episode 0 we can say.
Let's not expect much of a conclusion from this. Was it good? Yes, it did its job introducing the Servants, Masters and our Boy Gilgamesh.

Storywise, I'd say it did a very interesting take on the Holy grail war, a war based in AMERICA? Why has this not been done before?? I think it was a great introduction for the characters, obviously not a lot shown, understandable given its very limited runtime but its enough. And the voice acting is AMAZING. But easily ...

Ahh Strange Fake, the Holy Grail War, with a twist. 8/10 overall.

Going into this special, I'm not sure what I was expecting from A-1 Pictures given most of the Fate franchise has wow'd me from Ufotable's production team, but I am not disappointed.

We witness a unique twist in this grail war in that it does not initiate in the standard ways we have seen before... Also it leaves one to question, who is in charge, the Master or the Servants?

The animation was top tier, perhaps not ufotable level but great non the less, my only gripe in that department is the weird noses ...

Mixed Feelings

FunnyFate/strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn (7)

Admittedly I wasn’t aware this was a prologue/introduction for an anime (which has only just been announced as of writing this), so I was a bit confused by the methodical pace when watching. After all, Fake was apparently an April Fools’ joke that was made real, so I was expecting a little cheeky hour-long animation of that and that’s it. But this felt like it was taking itself as an actual story seriously, which I think is (ironically) a funny way to present jokes like this.

However, I was admittedly confused at everything that was going on. Almost everyone speaks verbosely, terms are thrown ...

Finally!!!

After Fate/Apocrypha, my expectations from the Fate franchise had dwindled. Then came the brilliant "Heaven's Feel" trilogy and I found myself lamenting the end of the story when the credits rolled for the final film. Fast-forward to the MLA notification about Fate/Strange Fake. I dared to think that maybe, just maybe I'll be treated to another Fate extravaganza which would remind me of the likes of Fate/Zero. (I should add that I haven't seen Fate/Grand Order so do forgive me if I'm not giving it the praise it may deserve)

The story behind (not of) Fate/Strange Fake is quite the amusing one. What began as ...

I have never watched Fate/ Strange Fake of its original light novel version, and I've no clue how good the the rest of the series will be. However, there is one thing I'm sure of, and that is Fate/ Strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn just by this special episode is probably the peek of the entire Fate series.

10/10 ⭐️, that's how gorgeous its made in my opinion, but until an hour ago, I hadn't been looking forward to seeing it coming. The art style is just not my type. Now I regretted judging the book by its cover. The different art style just make ...

"Fate Strange/Fake: Whispers of Dawn" is the prologue of the next Fate series installment. It takes place in a battleground town, ready for the next great Grail War.

Each master and its servant are shown without hurry, with the first being Gilgamesh and Tine, a shy but bold girl. The known magician El Melloi is another character worth mentioning, and along with him we have Flatt Escardos, a boy that doesn't seem anything special at first sight; in one ocasion, he gets an artifact ignored by Melloi. Such item is responsible to the coming of Jack the Ripper, who didn't show much of his power ...

The Fate series is like the infinite well of creativity of the anime world. Over the years, many different studios showed us their own spin on the franchise. And now, after the absolutely brilliant Apocrypha, the geniuses at A-1 pictures are at it again with another awesome spin off we were all patiently waiting for. Sadly, the series isn't out yet, but if the intro movie is anything to go by, then I can safely say that its going to be one of the greatest shows ever made (not that I expected anything else from A-1 pictures). The visuals are breathtaking, the new characters are ...

Fate/Strange Fake is finally here in an animated form, and as a huge fan of the LNs (the ongoing manga's great too!) I'm more than stoked. Plenty of other people have talked about various aspects done right or wrong with 'Whispers of Dawn'.

I have a special factor I'd like to focus on:

The SOUNDTRACK!

It's one of the main reasons I like this special so much. Sure, some people might miss the Kajiura-esque fanfares and epicness. However, this approach wouldn't really fit F/SF. The OST we experience here is perfectly fitting - both to the unorthodox location of this warped Holy Grail War (the USA), and ...

Another Fate anime, but we still get a whole episode of build up and intros for masters and their servants.
In all seriousness, I'm giving this a 9 because I see the potential of how all the character's ideologies will clash in crazy ways. It's a fun first episode full of action, betrayal, and a great tone setter. Not too much more for now since we don't know much about any of the servants for now.

The music was mostly nothing worth noting except for 2 vocal tracks that were very excellent.
Animation was above average, but the art style was truly unique and memorable. ...

Honestly, if this was my first Fate anime or even if I'm someone who is a Fate fan but watching it blind without prior knowledge of the LN or Manga, I would love this anime, especially because I'm such a big fan of Enkidu & Gilgamesh dynamic from the Grand Order series.

But unfortunately, I've read both the manga and LN before, and currently I have mixed feelings about this anime, especially because they left out on huge chunk of information & scenes that are just my favorite.

So, here are some things that I love & hate from the first episode.

First, the animation. I don't ...

There's no way the show can keep up with the level of energy the ep 0 - so to say - brought to the table. Ofc coming from fate apocrypha and encore as the most recent entries this level of quality isn't necessarily surprising.. This show truly proves once again that fate IS that gift that keeps on giving. I personnaly don't even want to dare dream of a world where the hype of this first episode gets even surpassed by followig episodes. The future is looking rather bright with this one.

As some general information: characters are great as always, atmosphere is peak fate stuff. ...

this has the potential to be the most interesting holy grail war yet.
my favorite fate story is lostbelt 6 but this could be up there
i really like the potential of the various servants, since there is way more than the usual seven.
the masters themselves are also quite intriguing, with one of them being a dead apostle
fan service of gil, enkidu, zelretch, waver was also so good
the one thing i wished they showed is alcides; i wished to have seen his blackening process
animation quality is superb even if it wasn't by ufotable

can't wait for the full drop, and i hope it doesn't turn into apocrypha

Oh look, We got another Fate.
Not like we don't have much that or anything.
I vividly remember, when I completed Heavens Feel 2 and thought, "Damn! I should binge the third movie rn!" Only to realize I've to wait for nearly 1 more year for the third feel movie (this was also the same time I was waiting for Dawn of the Deep Soul). And this happened nearly... 3 years ago?! Wtf? Was it already 3 years from the pandemic?
...
Anyway, I'm feeling a very similar emotion with Strange Fake. I didn't expect much when the announcement was made nearly 3 seasons ago but after watching this, ...

I gotta admit, every time Gilgamesh show up on screen, I always grinning like a fool.
I still can't believe this thing was first created as an April's fool joke. The writer of durarara and baccano is really talented to create a masterpiece, my favorite masterpiece!

In my opinion, A1 manage to portray Gilgamesh, my,ours and fans favorit really well.

The pacing feels rush but this is the prologue and only one episode so it's understandable.

There is some rough animation here and there, but that also logical remembering the deadline and budget.

This series has surprises in store, even as it throws in a few familiar faces to keep things grounded. It also features some stellar animation in its fight scenes and backgrounds, really showcasing the budget A-1 Pictures brought to bear, even if it still feels a far cry from the many strengths of Ufotable's run with the series. It doesn't help that, during some of its quieter moments, this series makes some really odd and off-putting animation choices, and I just generally find it hard to get used to the way they've designed faces. Maybe that's just me.

Anyway, with a 55 minute runtime, this was ...
